Religious Education Building Fire on April 17, 2011

The original structure before the fire.

The Religious Education building at Santa Rosa Catholic Church was completely gutted during a fire on April 17, 2011. No one was injured. Father Ibeh was not at home when the fire started but arrived just after a passerby stopped and called 911 at about 9:30pm April 17th. Our Andice neighbors also dialed 911 after hearing a loud sound and investigating. The interior was consumed, most of the roof and parts of the walls collapsed. Fire departments from Florence, Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Leander, Weir, Hutto and Round Rock responded. The fire started on the church side of the RE Building but no other buildings were damaged. The cause was assumed to be electrical in nature. 2011 Holy Week services went on as planned and Religious Education classes for the rest of the season as well as the 2011-2012 season were held in the Walter F. Carr Activity Center.

Come by and see the new RE building. Your prayers were greatly appreciated during this tragedy and for all that were affected... for Father Ibeh, the RE Staff, our students, the firefighters, and for those that lost personal and spiritual items in the fire that can never be replaced. God bless our Andice neighbors and the family that stopped by to call 911.

Thank you and God Bless!
