Chiclayo, Peru Twinning

January 2015:

The annual mission to Santa Elena involved some encounters with the wild life to include snakes, and an animal called an otorongo which is similar to a tiger.  They have different problems down there than we do.  They have made tremendous progress on the chapel.

Recap of December 2013 Mission to Santa Elena

November 2013:

Our Peruvian Vincentian twin partners are preparing to embark on their annual mission to Santa Elena. Our continues financial support of $250/quarter helps them bring the Gospel, food and clothing to the people of this village. We are so proud of these young people. We are humbled by the way they see Christ in the poor and serve Him. You can see their latest videos by following the links below.

The friendship in the conference

August 2013:

Our Vincentian twin partners in Chiclayo, Peru have completed another mission to Santa Elena. With our assistance of $250/quarter they are able to bring the Word of God as well as food and clothing to the poor inhabitants of this village. We are proud of all they do to serve the least of His brethren. And we thank you for the financial support which we can give them to make this mission possible. The poor of the world are blessed to the Lord. The Vincentians of Chiclayo, Peru, with our monetary contributions, bring Christian love to these isolated children of God. Please click on the link below to see what is involved in their efforts to follow His Commandment to love one another and to bring Christ to this humble village.

Short Story Mission Santa Elena

July 2012:

We've received a letter from our twin partners in Chiclayo, Peru detailing their recent successful mission trip to Santa Elena. Please take a few minutes to read the letter (link follows). We believe that you will be as proud as we are of these young university students who are bringing the Word of Christ as well as food and school supplies to the poor. These young Vincentians are so appreciative of the assistance they receive from Santa Rosa. We thank you for your generosity which enables us to share our riches with them.

Chiclayo Third Letter, July 31st, 2012

June 2012:

We've received a second letter from our twinning partners in Chiclayo, Peru. To read it please click on the link below. I'm sure that you will be as impressed as we are with the faith, charity and vitality of these young people.

Chiclayo Second Letter, June 13th, 2012

May 2012:

In February, 2012 our Conference unanimously voted to "Twin" with a Conference from Chiclayo, Peru. International twinning is encouraged by the International and National Councils and provides prayers, funds and hope to less prosperous SVdP Conferences throughout the world. We chose a Conference in Peru because of their extreme need and because our patron saint, Santa Rosa de Lima, was from Peru. We will be exchanging letters via email with these young people and sending them $250 quarterly. I think you will be as amazed and humbled as we were when we read of their service in the name of Jesus.

Chiclayo First Letter, May 23rd, 2012

Watch this spot for future correspondence from these young people. If you have any questions regarding twinning or other Conference activities please contact us by calling the parish office or emailing us at

Our mission

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Santa Rosa Conference is alive and well. With more than fifteen active and enthusiastic members we are serving the poor and suffering within the boundaries of our parish. If you are aware of parishioners who are struggling please encourage them to call the parish office and leave a message for us.

Most of us, at some point in our lives, have belonged to parishes where the black bag collection was a monthly occurrence. But frequently our knowledge of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is limited to the fact that collected funds are used to help the poor. While that is indeed true, the Society is so much more.

The SVdP is an international organization with over 800,000 members in 149 countries. The two latest countries are Nepal and Mongolia. Membership in the Society, is a vocation, a commitment "to follow Christ through service to those in need and so bear witness to His compassionate and liberating love." No work of charity is foreign to the Society. Members, called Vincentians, visit the poor and needy in their homes and offer assistance that "alleviates suffering or deprivation and promotes human dignity and personal integrity in all their dimensions."

Because the Conference is totally comprised of volunteers our overhead is very small when compared to other nonprofit organizations. The parish generously provides us with office space and covers all of the overhead expenses intrinsic in having a physical location. Early in 2011, the Santa Rosa Ladies Group graciously donated a new computer and data tracking software. Our consumable office expenses are covered by the donations of Vincentians. The only operating expenses which are paid for by Black Bag donations are the International, National and Regional dues that each Conference is required to pay. In FY 2011, better than 97% of all donations were used for direct client services. Thank you to all of our supporters for your generous contributions.

All members of the parish are invited to join us. If you feel called to personally serve the poor and needy please consider becoming a member. For more information please check the bulletin, call the office or come to a meeting.
